Organizing Committee

As the chairman of the GBM Fonomarae 06 organizing committee, I'm just so thankful to my committee for all the work put in. As the day draws near for the camp, more and more needs to be done. We just pray for God's grace upon us.

Camp: 9-12 December 2006
Place: Taman Wetlands, Putrajaya

So far about 270 people have registered for the outdoor camp. More exciting is that not only are there girls from all over Malaysia, but there are GBs from Singapore and Phillippines coming. The officers whom I met at ICGB in Belfast, N.Ireland, wanted to send many girls. But we have decided on 40 girls from Singapore and 40 girls from the Phillippines. Our own Malaysians make up the bulk of the registration.
Are there more coming ??? Well, hurry up, we can take up to 400 and the cut off date is 31 October.

The campsite ... oh this is the spanking new campsite at the Wetlands, Putrajaya. Verrrry nice. We may be the first to use the place. So new toilets, new kitchen... and a very interesting concept of pitching the tents. So there are many exciting new things to do.

We are partnering the Wetlands Management for the arrangement of the camp. They'll be conducting the main outdoor activities. And hey, you can get Achievement Awards for it!

Competitions - to be held on the Fun Nite, themed "Tribes of the World". Get into your costumes, learn up a dance/song/whatever representing a tribal people group of the world.

Went for a meeting at KBS today and we can apply for funds for national programmes.

THIS is GOOD news for our Fonomarae. We can look into getting extra door gifts and stuff for our campers. hmmmm...

It seems that those funds may not be for our fonomarae after all. Nevertheless MBS has given some funds to SFT group council. I hope SFTGC will be generous to this committee, for the common good of all campers.

Next committee meeting : 5 Nov 06 at 3 pm at Menara Wesley, KL. All comm members must make a progress report.

Today is Sunday 26 Nov 2006. That leaves us just 2 weeks before we see campers pouring into camp.

If you're starting to pack for camp, don't leave out:
Mosquito repellant - we're sleeping in mosquito territory with bushes around, but very civilized jungle
sunblock - all the outdoor activities are going to blow your skin-whitening hardwork :-)
own toiletries : soap, toothpaste, shampoo, ladies' monthly needs, etc
slippers (for going to the bathroom) and shoes for the activities
raincoat - it's been so rainy these days; of course we keep praying the rain will cease for us on those days but camping in the rain may have a different kind of fun what!
cap, hat
a light jacket to keep warm
SLEEPING Bag - only tent is given
Bible, notebook & stationery
Lots of smiles and an expectant heart to be blessed by God
Plenty of readiness to make new friends and eexperience new things
... leave any complaining at home!

There's only one post in the page? Why not open it up for everybody to post something up? Unfortunately i didn't bring sun block so i came home with 'camping mark' with me, gotten darker. There was not much mosquitoes, compared to Kem Belia in Mukah, fortunately. Afterall, it's a nice camp.

If you need photos, for every region like Sibu, Kuching, Sabah photo CDs have been given to your officer . Kuching look for Kuching group council, Sibu look for the office and Sabah look for KK group council.
